    In the name of God Amen The three and twentieth daie of December in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred fiftie and two I Raphe Akehurst of the parishe of St Thomas in the Cliffe neare Lewis in the Countie of Sussex Marchant being sicke and weake in Bodie but of good and perfect understanding Thanks be given unto Allmightie God doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in wryteing in manner and forme following First I commend my Soule into the Hands of Allmightie God my Creatour hopeing assuredlie to be save though the merritts of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer And my Body to the Earthe from whence it came to de decentlie buried by my Executor hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my Eldest daughter Elizabeth Akehurst the full summe of twoe hundred pounds of lawfull englishe money to be paied unto her in and upon the daie of her marriage by my Executor hereafter named And in the meane while I will that the Interest and proffitts of the sayd twoe hundred pounds shalbe yearlie paied unto her towards her maintenance Item I give unto the said Elizabeth twoe stooles and one Chaire of irish stitch and my Chest of Drawers to be delivered unto her upon Demand Item I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Laetitia Akehurst the like summe of twoe hundred pounds of lawfull englishe money to be paied unto her by my Executor hereafter named in and upon the daie of her marriage And in the meane while I will that the Interest and proffitt of the sayd twoe hundred pounds shalbe yearlye paied unto her towards her maintenance And also I give unto her three Cushoons of irishe stitche together with the Cabbinett to be likewise delivered unto her upon demand Item I give and bequeath unto my youngest sonne Raphe Akehurst the full summe of fiftie pounds of lawfull money of England to be paied unto him within one monthe after my deathe And alsoe the Bedstedle and table in the dyneinge Roome of my dwelling house the largest Cipres Chest in my lodging Chamber the table and liverie Cubbord in the Hall And alsoe all the Bo…. Weights and Scales Seacoles Irons Tongs Shovell Spitts and jack in the Kitchin And alsoe all my Coppers and brewe vessels with theire Appurtenances And all the Standards whatsoever belonging to my said House in which I now live And as touching the disposing of such reall Estate wherewith God hath blessed mee I will and bequeath the same in manner and forme following First whereas I have bought of Harbert Springett Esq one parcell of Land in Ringmer neare the Churche there called the parsonage Croft which I have paide for although the Estate thereof be not as yet conveied unto mee Now my will is that Mary my deare and loving wife shall have the said Parcell of Land during her life And after her decease I give the same to my said sonne Ralphe and to his heires for ever And I doe desire that the same may be conveyed by Mr Springett accordinglie Item I give unto my said wife for and during the Tearme of her natural life all that house whereon I now dwell together with all the Outhouses Edifices Buildings Backsides Gardens Orchards and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging And after her decease I give the same house and premises to my said Sonne Raphe and his heires for ever And my will and mind is that my said wife shall demise all the house parcell of Lande and all the premises aforesaid with the appurtenances unto my said sonne Raphe for threescore yeares if hee shall soe long live att the yearlie Rent of twentie pounds payeable half yearlie by equall portions my said sonne thereupon giveing good securitie for the payment thereof which twentie pounds per Annum is in liewe of one Annuitie of twentie pounds a year which was given unto her by her former husband out of his lands in Kent during her life which Annuitie I caused her to sell away And I receaved the money for the same And further my will is that my said wife shall and may reserve to her selfe and her servants out of the said demise the Hall Chamber together with libertie to make use of such Roomes waies and passages there as shalbe necessarie for her use And I give her convenient household stuffe for her use during her life onlie And after her deathe I will the said household stuffe to be devided between my sonne Raphe and my twoe daughters or which of them shee shall please Item I give all the Rest of my householdstuffe to my foure Children equallie to be devided betweene them And all the Reside of my Goods and Chattels Debts Creditts and personall Estate whatsoever unbequeathed (my debts legacies and funerall expences being first paied and discharged) I give and bequeath unto my loving sonne Alexander Akehurst whome I make sole Executor of this my last will and Testament desiring him if my estate will beare it to add fiftie pounds more to my said sonne Raphes portion and to make up my said twoe daughters Eliazbeth and Laetita their several portions three hundred pounds a peece Provided they match with his consent In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto this my last will sett my seale and to eache sheete thereof being two in number my hand the daie and yeare above written Ra: Akehurst Signed sealed and published in the presence of Sam Palmer John Hanson

    This Will was proved at London the six and twentieth daie of June in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie foure before the Judges for probate of wills and granting Administrations lawfully authorized by the Oathe of Alexander Akehurst the sonne of the said deceased and sole Executor in the said Will to whome the Administration was Committed of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Debts of the sayd deceased the sayd Alexander Akehurst being first legally sworne will and faithfully to administer the same
