In the name of god Amen the Third day of December eight and Twenteith day of January in the yere of our lord god after the Computacon of the Church of England one Thousand Six hundred and Twoe I Nicholas Ashedowne of the paryshe of Retherfeild in the county of Sussex yeoman being sicke of body but of good & perfecte Remembrance thankes be geven to god therefore doe make & declare this my last will & testament in manner & forme followinge First & principally I geve & bequeth my soule unto allmighty god my maker savyour & redeemer by whome & through whome I hope to have forgevenes of all my synnes & my body to the earth from whence it Came & decently to be buried when it shall please god Itm I will & bequeth unto Mary Gyllett Russell my daughter Six pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her, her heires or assignes by my executor herafter named within one yeare nexte after my decease Itm I will & bequeth unto Ellnor my daughter Tenne poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her, her heires or assignes by my executor within Twoe yeares nexte after my decease Itm I will & bequeth unto Grace my daughter Tenne poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her, her heires or assignes by my executor within Twoe yeares nexte after my decease Itm I will & bequeth unto Sysely my daughter Tenne poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her her heires or assignes within Fower yeares nexte after my decease by my executor Itm I will & my meaneinge is that if any of my said three daughters Ellnor Grace & Sisely doe dye before her or there porcon shalbe dew to be paid beinge unmaryed that then I will her porcon soe deceaseinge shall remayne to the other then lyveinge to be equally devided betweene them Itm I will & bequeth unto Gerrett Ashedowne one lambe Itm I will & bequeth & my very meaneinge is that Margery my wife shall have Fower pounds of lawfull money of England a yere every yere duringe her naturall life quarterly to be paid by my sonne Richard his heires or assignes out of my mesuages lands & tenementes lately to him by me geven And also the said Margery shall have the Chamber and the Parlor with free libertie to goe & come at her will And pleasure & to have fyre & flett during ther said naturall life & if the said Margery do fortune to mary agayne that then she shall not have the said chamber roome nor fyer nor fleete Or els if the said Margery doe like better of it at her choice in steade of the said iiijli a yere I will the said Richard my sonne shall fynde & provide for the said Margery my said wife duringe her life sufficiente meate & drinke fitt for her & her estate or els shall pay her iiijli a yere at her choyce to be payd in forme aforesaid by my said sonne Richard his heires or assignes Itm I will & bequeth unto the said Margery my wife halfe my houshold stuffe in my now dwellinge house Itm whereas I have geven xxxli unto three of my sonne Isackes Children that is to say Susan Margarett & Nicholas xli a peece & for the paymente & for the payment whereof my sonne Richard standeth bound by three severall bounds to them for the paymente thereof at there severall ages of xxjti yeres as in the said bounds it doth playnely appeere now my will & trew meane-inge is that if any of the said Three children of the said Isacke doe happen to dye before his or her said porcon of xli is dew to be paid That then I will and my trew meaneinge is that her or his said porcon so deceaseinge shall remayne to the children of the said Isacke then lyveinge to be equally devided betweene them Itm I geve unto Isacke my sonne xxs a yere & every yere during his naturall life to be paid by my sonne Richard his heires or assignes halfe yerely the first payment thereof to begin within the first yere nexte after my decease All the rest of my mooveable goods not before geven & bequethed my debtes first paid my legaces pformed & my funerall expenses pformed I geve full & wholely unto Richard Ashedowne my sonne whome I make my whole executor of this my psente will And I utterly revoke all former wills heretofore made And I make & ordayne William Allfray thelder of Lygreene & Abraham Ashdowne my brother my faithfull overseers of this my will And for the better ratifyinge hereof I have hereunto sette my hand & seale even the day & yere above written these being witnesses Ellatt senior John Catt then added below the name his marke
