Last Edited: 21 Feb 2022
- Baptism*: William Akehurst was baptized on 17 October 1762 at Beddingham, Sussex, EnglandB.1
- He was the son of Joseph Akehurst and Frances (?)
- Anecdote*: There are reasons for believing that William Akehurst is the son of Joseph and Frances Akehurst of Beddingham:
1. William named a child Frances, perhaps after his mother and sister.
2. William's sister Frances married William Stephens in 1787. William married Sarah Stevens/Stephens in 1795 (a possible connection?).
3. William's age on his burial in 1842 is 80 years, which is a perfect match (although there would be another candidate based on only this - William Akehurst bap. 1762 at Hooe). - (Witness) Will: William Akehurst is mentioned in the will of Joseph Akehurst dated 21 January 1792 at Beddingham, Sussex, EnglandB.2

- Baptism*: Thomas Nailard Akehurst was baptized on 14 December 1823 at St Bartholomew's, Burwash, Sussex, EnglandB, "Baseborn. Single woman". Name recorded as Thomas Naylor Akehurst in the Burwash baptism register but the will of Thomas Nailard of Heathfield, proved 1827, gives the name Nailard (ESRO: PBT 1/1/76/200.)1
- He was the son of Thomas Nailard and Mary Ann Akehurst.
- Anecdote: The Will of Thomas Nailard of Heathfield, proved 1827, is important for understanding Thomas's ancestry (ESRO: PBT 1/1/76/200). His father could have been Thomas Nailard the testator, although he would have been aged about 72 years at time of conception, or it could have been Thomas's grandson James Nailard who is also mentioned in the will. The father has been recorded here as Thomas Nailor, the testator, to assist with keeping the data together in case more information is found.
- (Witness) Will: Thomas Nailard Akehurst is mentioned in the will of Thomas Nailard dated 8 December 1826 at Heathfield, Sussex, EnglandB.2
