In the Name of God Amen The nineteenth Day of October in the yeare of Our Lord God One thousand six hundred seaventy and five I William Fletcher of the Cittie of Chichester in the Countie of Sussex mercer being sick and weak in bodie but of good and sound mynd and memorie the Lord be Praised therefore, Doe make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and forme following. First I resigne my Soule into the hands of Almightie God my Maker, hoping for eternall life and Salvaion onely by the Merits mediation and intercession of the Lord Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer, in whome I hope and desire to be found not having my owne righteousness, and to obtaine the remission of all my Synns in and through his most precious Bloud And my bodie I desire to be decently buried in the Churchyard of the Parish of St Peter the great in the said Cittie of Chichester, as my Executors hereafter named shall think fit: And as for the disposall of my worldly Estate which God of his rich mercie hath beene pleased plentifully above my deserts to bestowe upon mee with Submission to the will of God I give will and dispose thereof in manner and forme following: First I give will and bequeath to my eldest daughter Mary Fletcher my best featherbedd save One, and one Feather bolster, two feather pillowes, one white Rugg, and one paire of Curtens and Vallens with Sonne at Schoole, soe that hee may be a Scholer at the Universitie, if he please, Or else that they shall put him to some Merchant, as they and my said Sonne shall be most inclined and think fit and pounds by the yeare out of the interest arising of her portion aforesaid, And likewise the Summe of tenn pounds apeece yearly to my daughters Mary Flecher the younger and Elizabeth Fletcher towards their Education and maintenance, And the reason why I allowe them noe more is, because they shall // have severall Copiholds to which they are admitted, which will descend to them after my decease: Item I doe farther declare my will and meaning to be, that my said Executors in Trust shall once in every yeare after my decease untill my said Children shall attaine their severall ages of twentie yeares give upp and pass their Accompts to or in the presence of my loving Kinsman Thomas Barnard of Lewes aforesaid gent and my loving Brother Joseph Fletcher my loving Friends Mr Francis Page of Chichester aforesaid gent and Thomas Matthew of Lewes aforesaid woollendraper and my Cousin John Fletcher of Steyning, or before any two or more of them, or before any two credible persons which my said Kinsman Thomas Barnard shall nominate and appoint, of and concerning what my said Executors in Trust or either of them shall yearely receave or pay of or concerning my reall and personall Estate And that such Accompt and Accompts soe from tyme to time to be made as aforesaid, and to be allowed=of and attest to under the hands of two or more of the persons soe authorized to take the said Accompts as aforesaid, shall be accepted and taken by my said Sonne William to be good and true Accompts and that hee shall accept and allowe of the same when hee shall attaine his Age of One and chargeable with or give any Accompt of any more of the Rents and profits of my Lands or of my personall Estate then they shall severally and respectively receave of and by the same; And that the one of them shall not be accomptable for the other, nor shall be charged [space filler] with what the other shall receave, And that it shall be lawfull for them and every of them my said Executors at every Accompt to defalke[sic] allowe and keepe in their hands for themselves what will reasonably satisfie them for their labour Costs and expences which they shall be at concerning the Trusts and
