In the Name of God Amen I Richard Streatfeild of Rotherfield in the County of Sussex Mercer being sicke & weake in Body but of a sound and perfect Mind & Memory (praysed be God for the same) and considering the shortness of my Life the Certeynty of my death & the Uncerteynty of the tyme thereof and being desirous to settle that estate it hath pleased God in Mercy hath bestowed on me doe make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament in manner & forme followeing that is to say First and principally I commend my soule to God who gave it me & my Body I committ to the Earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried in Christian manner as my Executrix hereafter named shall thinke fit Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parish of Rotherfeild aforesaid Ten pounds of lawfull Money of England and I will that five pounds thereof shalbe paid & distributed amongst them at the end of one yeare after my death & thother Five pounds residue thereof shalbe distributed amongst them at the end of two yeares next after my death Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parish of Haylesham in the said County Twenty shillinges to be distributed amongst them at the end of one yeare next after my death Item I give unto the Children of my Cozen Allen Five shillings a peece to be payd & delivered unto them presently after my death Item I give & bequeath unto my Cozen Barbara Streatfeild a twenty shilling peece of broad gold to be alsoe delivered to her presently after my death All the rest & residue of my goods cattell Chattells Moneyes & security for Moneyes shopp goods Testament whom I desire would pay all my debts Legacyes funeral expences and duely & truely performe this my Will And whereas my Brother John Streatfeild doe owe & is indebted unto me the sume of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England on Bond Now I doe by this my Will give & bequeath the said one hundred pounds to my brother John’s two daughters Mary and Elizabeth to be paid unto them within one Moneth next after the death of my said Brother John and I will that my said Brother John shall within one moneth after my death give bond to his said two daughters to pay the said one hundred pounds to his said two daughters within one Moneth after his death and that from & after my said Brother John shall have sealed the said Bond for payment of the said one hundred pounds as aforesaid then I doe will & appoint that my said Executrix shall deliver up to my said Brother to be cancelled the bond of one hundred pounds which he owes me Item I give & devise unto my Brother Edward Streatfeild one Annuity or yearly rent of seaven pound of lawfull money of England to bee yssueing & goeing out of my Coppyhold messuage lands & tenement in Haylesham in the said County of Sussex To have receive perceive & take the said Annuity or yearly sum unto my said Brother Edward Streatfeild & his assignes during his Life payable on the feast dayes of St Michaell Tharchangell & Thannunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary by even & equall pounds The first payment thereof to be made on such of the said feast dayes as shall first happen & come next after my death with Liberty & power to & for my said Brother Edward & his assignes to distrayne for the same in case the said yearly rent or any part thereof shall be behind & unpayd one & twenty days next after either of the said feast dayes on which the same ought to be paid as aforesaid But my Will & Mind is that if my said Brother Edward doe or shall at any tyme or tymes hereafter grant sell or demise or otherwise dispose of the sid Annuity or yearly rent to any person or persons whatsoever That then the said Annuity or early rent shall cease determine & be utterly voyd & the said messuage lands & tenements shall be for ever thereafter freed & discharged of & from the same Any thing before herein contained to the Contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding Item I give & devise the said messuage lands & tenements with their & every of their appurtenances in Haylesham aforesaid unto my said Brother John Streatfeild & to his heires & assignes for ever Charged & chargeable to & for the payment of the said Annuity
