  This morning at the Village Settlement Bervin Wilson, 13 years of age, was amusing himself with a pea-rifle, when the weapon was accidentally discharged, the bullet lodging in one of his shoulders. The boy was conveyed to Euchuca, where Dr Ebsworth located the bullet by means of the X rays. An operation for the removal of the bullet was succesfully performed.¹

• Anecdote*: William Anthony came out ot Australia with his grandparents, James and Sophia. There is a bit of a mystery as to why William Anthony's parents, William James and Sarah (nee Anthony) would have allowed thier son to accompany his grandparents. There is a vague family story of a Lester child being killed by being struck on the head by a bag of marbles in some sort of sibling spat. Maybe William was the wielder of the bag and they were getting him out of town. On the other hand, there was a lot of cholera in London at the time and maybe he was taken to Van Diemen's Land for safety. William Anthony Lester at the age of nine arrived in Hobart Town in 1837 with his grandfather James Lester in the ship Cheviot under the command of Captain Young. After Tasmania they arrived in Geelong on the ship Shamrock in 1843 and settled at Little River where his grandmother Jemima died. They then went to live with his father at Eganstown Victoria. At around this time William was apprenticed as a wheelwright to a Thomas Brown father of Anne Caroline Brown who he married on 25/4/1854 in Geelong.
