- Baptism*: Lucy Verrall was baptized on 8 August 1779 at St Mary's, Eastbourne, Sussex, EnglandB.1
- She was the daughter of Thomas Verrall and Sarah Collins.
- Anecdote*: There are three possibilities for the baptism of Lucy Verrall in Eastbourne:
18 Oct 1778 daughter of Samuel and Mary. (This Lucy is considered to have married Michael Godden in 1795 at Eastbourne.)
08 Aug 1779 daughter of Thomas and Sarah.
10 Dec 1780 daughter of William and Ann. (This Lucy is considered to have married George Boniface in 1802 at Eastbourne.)
There is also a fourth possibility in nearby Willingdon: 01 Aug 1779 daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Verrall (nee Batcheller). (However, this Lucy is considered to have married married Richard Duly at Willingdon in 1800.)
The following supports the conclusion that Thomas and Sarah Verrall are the parents of Lucy:
1. She named her second and third child Sarah and Thomas, consistent with these being her parents' names.
2. She did not name any of her children Samuel.
3. There are arguments supporting the elimination of the other candidates by identifying their marriages as shown (see their individual pages). - Marriage*: Lucy Verrall married William Dyer, son of John Dyer and Philadelphia Gosden, on 10 April 1798 at Eastbourne, Sussex, EnglandB, both of this parish.2
- Residence*: On 7 June 1841 Lucy Verrall and William Dyer lived at Upwick, Eastbourne, Sussex, England, both aged 60 years (rounded down), living with son Charles (20 years) and David Climpson (5 years.)3
- Death*: Lucy Verrall died in 1859 at Union House, Eastbourne, Sussex, England.4
