James Wenham
b. circa 1738, d. 1811
Parents:
Last Edited: 14 Jan 2023
- Birth*: James Wenham was born circa 1738 at Hellingly, Sussex, EnglandB.
- He was the son of Edward Wenham and Hannah Vine.
- Anecdote*: There is no baptism for James, probably due to the neglected parish registers at that time. Unfortunately, the Hellingly parish register states:"No Register regularly kept from 1725-1742". However, his will proved in 1811 states that he has brothers Joseph and Thomas, and he fits in this family. It is possible that he is the John Wenham mentioned in the adult baptisms in 1749 but we can't be sure.1
- Anecdote: It would appear from James's will that he did not marry.
- Will*: James Wenham left a will made on 13 June 1810 at Southease, Sussex, EnglandB.2
- Will/Adm Transcript*: Will of James Wenham, Farmer of Southease, 1811
