The family is from Raphoe in County Donegal. Sarah who came with John to Australia was actually his second wife. She was Sarah McClintock. His first wife was Elizabeth Noble, married in Raphoe. I was able to get copies of both his marriage entries when I was in Belfast last year. - Marriage*: John Gregg married Elizabeth Noble on 29 March 1836 at Raphoe, Donegal, Ireland.

3/ William [ Blind Billy] born 1842 York, Perth, died 1897 aged 44yrs. William Gregg, Blind, and a Fidler/Piper charged with drunkeness in Perth Police courts on 23rd Feb 1875. William swore to the Magistrate that he would never drink again. The Magistrate told William that his blindness wouldn’t deter him from imprisoning him next time.[Source of information,West Aust newspaper]
4/ John born 1844 Perth. Died 14th Jun 1905 aged 60yrs, Perth. John Gregg,in the company of two other fellows,a James Duggan and an Arthur Beck were all arrested after they were caught redhanded by a Policeman garrotting and robbing with violence, a James Kerr in an outhouse at Australia Hotel, The robbery would have netted them 6 shillings. John Gregg received 15 years penal servitude which he served part of in Fremantle Prison until he was released in 1898 because of his age and family reasons. James Duggan died at Mt Malcolm Police Lockup in 1901 at Menzies,WA. In 1901,John Gregg was staying at the ‘Old Mens Home’ in Claremont.
5/ Thomas born 1846 Perth. Died 15th May 1877 aged 31 yrs. He was aboard the ‘Emily Smith’ that sank in foul weather off the coast of Kangaroo Island in South Australia.
6/ Nesbit born 12th Jul 1848 Perth,died 25th Sep 1915 aged 65yrs. Nesbit was charged in the Perth Police Court on 26th Feb 1890 with drunkeness, but the charge was dismissed with a caution. He was found asleep between two horses in someone’s stable in Perth.[Source of information,the West Aust newspaper] Nesbit spent time in Mt Eliza Invalid Depot in Fremantle. He is believed to have suffered an accident earlier in life. Nesbit was admitted to Mt Eliza Poorhouse 11th May 1888.

Daughter Frances Cole died age 20 years and was a teaching aid at Perth Girls School. Thomas's wife Frances died in 1858 of inflammation and Thomas died in 1873 of heart disease. - Death*: Thomas Cole died on 29 September 1873 at Perth, Western Australia, Australia, at age 62.
