It is suspected that she was then raised by George and Elizabeth Barber of Rotherfield as the will of John Lockyer proved in 1629 leaves money to his cousin John Barber and his sister Anne Barber. There is no baptism of an Anne Barber to George and Elizabeth, and the family seems to be fully documented. Anne later married and had children at Rotherfield so it seems a reasonable assumption. If true, this would imply a kin connection between the Barber alias Nynnes at Rotherfield and Ticehurst.²
