This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Marchant of Brighthelmston in the County of Sussex, widow First I order and direct that all my just debts ffuneral Expenses and the Expenses of proving this my Will be paid and discharged by my Executors hereafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease And I give and devise unto my son William Marchant of Brighthelmston aforesaid carpenter and his Heirs All that my Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Hereditaments and Premises wherein I now live situate lying and being in _____ otherwise Ship Street in Brighthelmston aforesaid All which said premises I have duly surrendered to the use of my will to hold the same and every part thereof with the Appurtenances unto my said son William Marchant and his heirs Upon the trusts and to and for the uses Intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned and declared of and concerning the same (that is to say) Upon trust and I do hereby direct that as my said son William Marchant or his Heirs do and shall immediately after my Decease sell and dispose of the said Messuage or Tenement Hereditaments and Premises with the appurtenances for the best price and prices and most money that he can get for the same and after paying for the charges of selling the same do and shall pay distribute and divide all and every the clear net monies arising by such sale unto and among him my said son William Marchant and my daughters Mary the wife of Daniel Holder and Susan the wife of John Balcombe equally share and share alike to whom I do hereby give and bequeath the same accordingly and to their respective Executors and administrators Also I give and bequeath unto my said three children the said William Marchant Mary Holder and Susan Balcombe and to their respective Executors and Administrators All and every my ready Money Bonds Bills Securities for Money Debts to me due and owing And also all and every my Household Furniture Stock in Trade and all and singular my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever or of what nature kind or Quality soever the same may be found at the time of my decease to be equally divided between my said three children share and share alike And I do hereby direct that the purchaser or purchasers of the said trust premises or any part thereof shall not be answerable or accountable for the misapplication or nonapplication of the said trust Monies or any of them or any part thereof but that he she or they shall be absolutely and finally discharged therefrom upon Payment of such purchase monies unto him my said Trustees or his Heirs or assigns And I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my said three Children the said William Marchant Mary Holder and Susan Balcombe Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said Mary Marchant the Testatrix to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four Mary Marchant Signed sealed published and declared by the said Mary Marchant the Testatrix in the presence of us who in her presence at her Request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses John Brooker James Patching H Brooker
The Will of Mary Marchant of Brighthelmston within the Archdeaconry of Lewes widow deceased was proved the first day of June in the year of our Lord 1790 before the Reverend Edward Robert Raynes Clerk Surrogate and so forth before the oaths of William Marchant Mary Holder and Susan Balcombe the Executor and Executrixes therein named To whom was committed the administration of the Goods of the deceased they being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and so forth Sworn also that the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said Mary Marchant do not amount in value unto twenty pounds
