I James Chaplin of Oat Lane in the parish of St Mary Staining London Ironmonger being sick in Body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say first I order and direct that my Body shall be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrix and Executors hereinafter named and after payment of all my just debts funeral expenses and the expense of proving this my Will I give and dispose of all such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in manner following that is to say whereas I am entitled under and by virtue of the last Will and Testament of Barker Holton late of Colchester in the County of Essex Gentleman deceased which bears date on or about the seventeenth day of June one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight after the death of Sarah Holton the widow of the said Barker Holton to a distributive share of the monies to arise by sale of all his the said Barker Holton messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with their and every of their appurtenances And whereas I have a power under and by virtue of certain Articles made subscribed and entered into by and between the several members of a certain Society or Club called the Georgians which was instituted upon the first Thursday in January which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy three and now held at the sign of the White Swan in Bunhill Row in the County of Middlesex by my last Will and Testament to give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds to such person or persons as I shall think proper with said sum of fifty pounds is in and by the said Articles directed to be paid by the said Society to such person as I shall give and bequeath the same within three months next after my decease Now I do hereby give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Mary Chaplin all such sum and sums of money which shall or may arise or accrue to me for my proportion of the monies to arise by sale of the Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments under and by virtue of the Will of the said Barker Holton deceased when and as soon as the same shall be sold And I do also give and bequeath unto my said Wife the said sum of fifty pounds which I have power by Will to bequeath under and by virtue of the before mentioned Articles And I do hereby direct that the before named Society or their Treasurer shall and may pay the said sum of fifty pounds and every part thereof to my said Wife within three months next after my decease which said sum or sums of Money so to arise by sale of the said Messuages Lands Tenements hereditaments and Promises or my share and proportion thereof and also the said last mentioned sum of fifty pounds together with all and every other Estates and Effects of what nature or kind soever of which I now am or may die seized or possessed of or entitles to or interested in I give and bequeath to my said Wife Mary Chaplin upon this special Trust and confidence that she the said Mary Chaplin shall use and dispose of the said several sums of money for the term of her natural life in some way of trade or business for the future support of herself and family but nevertheless to be careful of the same as possible and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the said several sums of money unto my two sons James and William Chaplin in equal shares and proportions save and except the sum of fifty pounds to be allowed to my said son James and deducted out of the share or moiety of the said William he having already had that sum of[off] me towards his promotion in life And I do direct that in case of the death of either of my said two sons without issue before he shall be entitled to receive his share of the amounts hereby bequeathed that in such case the whole moiety(?) after the death of my said wife shall go to and be received by the survivor of my said sons James and William and be by him applied to and for his own proper use and benefit And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Mary Chaplin Mr Robert Manning of Walworth in the parish of St Mary Newington Gentleman and Mr Thomas Manley of Wood Street in the City of London Master Executrix and Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made And I do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament And I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said Robert Manning and Thomas Manley my said Executors the sum of one Guinea each as a trifling recompense for the trouble they may hereafter have in the execution of this my Will In witness whereof I the said James Chaplin have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two
