  I Edward Akehurst in the name of God Amen of the Parish of East Grinstead in the County of Sussex Husbandman, being in sound sense and memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, First I direct my Executrix hereinafter named to pay within six months after my decease all my just debts and funeral expenses and further my will and meaning is that my beloved wife Elizabeth Akehurst whom I appoint sole Executrix of this my will, shall as soon as conveniently may be sell or cause to be sold by auction or otherwise, all my messuage, tenements, buildings, lands etc which I now occupy, copyhold of inheritance, situate at Ashhurst Common in the Parish of East Grinsted for as much money as can be obtained for the same and from the sum so arising my Executrix shall pay or cause to be paid, all principal and interest due to the Mortgagee of my Estate and the remainder of such sum to be raised by the sale of my copyhold estate. I give and bequeath to my said wife Elizabeth for her support and maintenance during her natural life and necessary to be solely expended for her support together with all my household furniture, goods and chattels to her use and benefit, And further I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth, during her natural life, all that my copyhold messuage known by the name of the Stable House for a residence during her natural life and after the decease of Elizabeth my wife, I give and bequeath my said cottage called the Stable House, lying and being in the Parish of East Grinsted aforesaid to my son Samuel Akehurst now of the Parish of Worth to him and his heirs and assigns forever, to have and to hold the same. And my further will and meaning is that after the death of Elizabeth my wife, that all sum or sums of money which shall remain over and above the sum necessary for her support together with all the household goods (if any remaining) shall be divided equally as follows. One equal part thereof to my son Edward Akehurst and one equal part to my son Stephen Akehurst and one equal part to my son William Akehurst and also one equal part to my daughter Ann French now of Hackney and one equal part to my daughter Mary Mitchell, and to my daughter Sarah Barker I bequeath one shilling to be paid to her by my Executrix on demand. And I do hereby revoke, annull and make void any former Wills and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made And declare this only as my last Will and Testament.
