- Birth*: Alice Farmer was born circa 1530 at Sussex, England.
- She was the daughter of Adam Farmer and Alice (?)
- Anecdote*: There is no record of Alice’s baptism as it would have been before 1538 when church records began.
It is likely that Alice is a sister or cousin of John FAMER/FERMOR who left a will made 13 Oct 1558 and proved 20 Mar 1558/59 (ESRO: PBT 1/1/4/305A) as he names Alice's children as beneficiaries. Alice has been shown as a sister of John in this family tree.
Also, John Nynne alias Barber's will of 1589 appoints Adam Farmer, “son of John Farmer deceased”, as an overseer, a further indication of kinship. The Rotherfield manorial court held on 22 Oct. 1 Eliz [1559] records the death of John Farmer and the admission of his 8 year old son Adam as heir and consequently Adam may have grown up quite close to the Nynne alias Barber family.
Pullein speculates that John Farmer may be connnected to Alexander Fermor of Walsh manor (as cousins) as they both named their first daughter Sylvester.1,2,3,4,5,6 - Anecdote: The Fermor/Farmer family has a long history in Rotherfield and is well documented in the book "Rotherfield: The Story of Some Wealden Manors" by Catharine Pullein.7
- Marriage*: Alice Farmer married John Barber alias Nynne, son of John Barber alias Nynne and Joan (?), on 8 April 1554 at Rotherfield, Sussex, EnglandB.8
- Anecdote*: The marriage is recorded as "John Nen married Alis Farmer".8
- Married Name: As of 8 April 1554, her married name was Barber alias Nynne.
- Anecdote: John Farmer's will made 13 Oct 1558 mentions "John Nynde's two children". One of these is obviously George Nynne but who is the other, as all are accounted for in John Nynne's will made in 1589? Could it be the adopted child?6,9
- (Witness) Will: Alice Farmer is mentioned in the will of John Barber alias Nynne dated 10 April 1589 at Rotherfield, Sussex, EnglandB.5
- Death*: Alice Farmer died in 1595 at Rotherfield, Sussex, EnglandB.
- Burial*: Alice Farmer was buried on 16 June 1595 at St Denys, Rotherfield, Sussex, EnglandB, The burial record just states "Barber (widow als Nynne.)"
